CICA will use different programs and methods to effectively train immigrant professionals and provide networking opportunities.
Mentoring
Our program will connect immigrant professionals with seasoned professionals in their respective fields. In most immigrant home countries, citizens are aware of the importance and influence of networks and mentors; it is through networks and connections that most jobs and career level connections are made, and the same rules apply in the United States. Our Mentors will help immigrant professionals build social capitals by working directly with participants to assist them in understanding the social workings of organizations, prepare participants for leadership positions in their professions and their communities. Mentors will work with mentee to develop tangible goals, help craft a career development plan, and assist the mentee in finding a job that matches their skills and experiences. |
Let's Connect
Through quarterly networking opportunities, African immigrant professionals will have the opportunity to network, and explore potential partnerships and mentorship with like-minded professionals. At these events, participants will learn about the journeys of other Immigrants who have successfully matriculated to managerial positions and will have the opportunity to connect with employers. Each event will focus on a specific aspect of career development, e.g., resume reviews, workplace etiquette, that will assist Immigrants in achieving career development success. |
